Company

Our company (founded in 2003 by Australian and Uruguayan partners) promotes and develops the Wagyu breed in Uruguay and in Latin American countries with the objective of supplying and developing cross breeding programs for the export of high quality beef.

With more than 10 years experience in the production and marketing of Wagyu beef, our product today is exported, to the most demanding world markets.

The company has some of the largest genetic components in the world concerning the variety Red Wagyu or better known as Akaushi. This sort of Wagyu (Akaushi) has the advantage of being able to generate marbling in tropical climates.

The company has developed crosses with Akaushi in Colombia, Costa Rica and Guatemala and Brazil.

Mario Aishemberg is one of the main partners at Wagyu who has given conferences in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Nicaragua, Croatia, Paraguay and Chile.

Our History

After more than 15 years of linking agro-industrial businesses between Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand, in 2001 Mario Aishemberg, current partner and founder of the company, was invited to visit one of Australia's leading Wagyu cabins called Mazda Wagyu International in order to expand the breed to Uruguay and other countries in the region. After several trips to Australia, with conviction of the race’s potential, as a determinant factor to give value to the meat, in 2003 the Australian Wagyu Alliance was founded in Uruguay, encompassed by partners from Uruguay and Australia. The main objective was the development of Wagyu genetics in Uruguay and Latin American countries.

Uruguay
Due to its climatic, sanitary and meat quality conditions, Uruguay was selected for Wagyu development with the purpose to develop crossbreeding programs and thus obtain a high quality product. In 2004, the owners of the Australian Wagyu Alliance along with other producers founded and formed the Uruguayan Wagyu Breeders Association of Uruguay.

Subsequently, after several years of introduction and development of the Wagyu breed in Uruguay, Carne Wagyu de Uruguay SA was founded in order to initiate, develop and manage the Wagyu cross breeding program for the production and export of Wagyu beef to world markets.

At the moment Carne Wagyu de Uruguay manages the WAGYU Program in Uruguay, which begins with genetics and ends with the final beef exportation.

Latin America
Red Wagyu or more commonly known as "Akaushi" is the genetic line to develop in the region, most of which are tropical livestock countries. In recent years there have been work and development of crosses of Akaushi in Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil and Guatemala, achieving great results.
